Today I bought myself a new monitor because the old one SUCKED. I've been doing a fair bit of research, and I knew I wanted an IPS based monitor. I plumped for the Apple 20" Cinema Display. It seemed to be one of the more cost effective IPS LCD monitors that has a reasonable colour gamut.

I am not dissapointed. It's sharp as a pin, and the colours are gorgeous. Totally awesome buy. I would have liked the 24", but there is no adapter for mini-display port to DVI yet. And the 24" screen is like $300 more, and I really didn't want to spend that much on a new screen. This one is big enough for now.

Also it comes with a cloth in a box to clean it with. How wanky is that?

Might Mouse

I've had a wireless might mouse for awhile, and I'm finally putting it away, and I totally fed up with it. Frequently it disconnects completely leaving me stranded with no mouse until I pull out one with a wire. The scroll nubby frequently will only scroll up, not down. Do you know how unbearable it is not to be able to scroll down?

I am looking for a new mouse officially. I have a Sony Vaio mouse which is okay. It's bluetooth which is a plus as it doesn't take up a USB port for a reciever, and I have precious few USB ports left even with a seven port hub. it's main problem is it doesn't have horizontal scroll.

I like the Logitech mice, but they don't have a decent mouse in bluetooth last time I checked, and I'll be painted blue and pink stripes before I buy a microsoft mouse.

Oh, and what's with browser on the mac tabbing right over select controls?

I bought a Blu-ray player for my iMac, hoping that I could either play back movies in a VM, or in a boot camp install of Windows XP. After a long struggle, and a couple of pieces of software later, I have made it work. I have an install of Windows XP in a secondary partition, and a copy of WinDVD from corel, which works great. I tried PowerDVD which came with the drive, but the only thing I got was audio and a black screen.

Yay for WinDVD!

It now appears that Mac users constitute over 7% of our user base on the MLS Search product. Mac usage has trippled in the last year. They appear to be about evenly divided between Safari and Firefox.

Apple is going great guns! Yay!
